Course Information & Guidelines

Tir-na-nOg Theatre School is an integrated program composed of 3 terms, Autumn, Winter and Spring plus an optional Summer Intensive.

There are four key performance times throughout the year ~

  • The Yuletide Story Feast ~ December.
At the turning of the year, all Tir-na-nOg groups join together to work hard on their scripts and to be ready for their performances. We celebrate the work of the Autumn term. Parents and friends are all invited to enjoy the play(s) and to enjoy this light-hearted event.
  • The Youth Festival of Plays ~ A joyfully and delicious celebration of plays, performed by the various student groups involved for the delight of community audiences and schools.
  • The Summer Stage Intensive ~ An uplifting occasion for the community to view the work of students as they perform a full length play over the Labour Day weekend.
  • The Annual Playwright Jam ~ The Playwright Challenge is an optional program in the Tir-na-nOg Theatre School’s yearly cycle. Each submitted play must be the original work of the student. The play can be any length, style or format. Once the plays have been handed in, we meet together, read each the plays, discuss plans and possible hurdles and help prepare the productions for the Tir-na-nOg stage. The young playwrights support each other as actors, backstage helpers and directors, if they so wish, and sometimes invite their friends to help, where it seems appropriate.

Dear Jack and Julie, what you created was so much more than a theatre school. You created a space where children felt safe to be fully themselves — a place where they could take risks, build confidence, and find their voices, on stage and in life. You cultivated empathy. Courage. Creativity. Belonging. Thank you for the immeasurable gift you have given us. Our family carries Tir-na-nOg forever in our hearts. With the deepest gratitude and love,
Tanya, Robin, Thomas, Eva — and Jimmie in spirit
